The 7/7/7 Challenge. 7 sentences from A Heart of Fire

Thank you, Lucy Flint, for nominating me! With a happy smile I’m accepting the challenge of sharing a mini piece of my work in progess A Heart of Fire.

The 777 challenge requires you go to Page 7 of your work-in-progress, scroll down to Line 7 and share the next 7 sentences in a blog post. Once you have done this, you can tag 7 other bloggers to do the same with their work-in-progress.

Okay, here it goes, revealing 7 sentences from one of my upcoming books.

(okay I added two more, since I literally had three sentences in there consisting of a single word 😀 😀 😀 )

A Heart of Fire, English version:

Else cleared her throat. “Uhm. Do you think Mel likes it?”

“What? Shopping?”

“My outfit.”

In a wink Ane’s voice went from sounding big sisterly to sounding contemptous. “Who cares? Mel is a blood sucking leech!

Well, that was fun. 😀 😀 😀

This very short text says a lot about Mel, I think. What kind of person is Mel when one person sounds like Mel is a goddess to earn love from and another compares her to a leech?

Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

If you want to share a piece of your work, I’m nominating YOU to the 7/7/7 challenge! And also the lovely @auraeadon and @mhowalt , if you’re up for it. 🙂 Good luck!

(And yes, as I wrote this post I realized how many of my Twitter-author-friends don’t have blogs. Why is that?)

Talk to you soon,

A. J. Lundetræ

  1. Awesome Agnete, thank you! 😀

Opinion on Mel? I don’t have one but much like other situations in life, polar opposites (especially passionate polar opposites) about a person indicate an interesting personality (positive or negative) worth exploring and/or experiencing, so I’d be willing to learn more about her.

I am up for it, so I’ll go into my draft to see what I have on page 7. 😀

Yay! Great! Look very much forward to reading your sentences! 😀
And very good observation – I completely agree that chacacters that create so opposite reactions in other characters are very intersting. I love trying to create characters that you “notice”.

Yes, it is very interesting. Loved your mini excerpt as well. Keep writing! 😉

  3. Thanks for the nomination! I’ll have mine on my blog soon. 🙂 It’s hard to tell exactly how Mel really is from that excerpt; which is the great thing about it. It does make me wonder why the opinions are different.

  4. Hi, M. Awesome that you took the challenge! 😀 This has been an eye opening experience, reading other peoples’ experpts as well, and noticing how much content one can communicate with so few words. 🙂

  6. Really liked the excerpt, although to me it says more about the two characters speaking than Mel. They are obviously close, in spite of their differences.

Lucy nominated me for the challenge too. I uploaded my excerpt just Yesterday 🙂

  7. Hi, Sarah! Thank you! 😀
Yes, it really says something about their relationship, doesn’t it?
Great! Will have a look at your excerpt! This is a great challenge – a really nice way to get to know what other writers are working on! Have a great weekend! 🙂
    Best wishes, Agnete

  9. 205 f9eJune 30, 2012 3e 6e 1b0With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any solutions to help prevent content from being ripped off? I’d truly appreciate it. 17f
