8 Quotes to Encourage You Today

8quotestoencourageyou

Each day I read something just for my own encouragement. One of the texts I read today was The 50 New Rules of Work by Robin Sharma. The text is originally meant for leaders of businesses, but I thought quite a few of the tips were really great for writers as well. I gathered a few of these “rules” as quotes of the day, hopefully as an encouragement to you, to writers and dreamers reading this blog. 😀

1. “Small daily improvements over time create stunning results.” (Robing Sharma)

Any improvements, not just work related ones, create results over time. Also when working with yourself, your limits, your skills, or simply mending your heart and learning to be kind to yourself, small daily steps will lead you there. Don’t give up. You’ll get there. Baby steps lead to great results.

2. “To double your income, triple your rate of learning.” (Robin Sharma)

Keep writing, keep reading, keep learning, keep working, guys! The more we learn, the better we get at our trades. Learn as much as you can. The sky is the limit! What are YOU currently learning?

3. “Copying what your competition is doing just leads to being second best.” (Robin Sharma)

Great, isn’t it? So you go out and do what you do best – be yourself! Tell your own stories, those that no one else could tell, since they don’t see the world exactly as you see it, and find your own voice, follow your own dreams, live the life that you know is right for you.

4. “Be a Master of Your Craft. And practice + practice + practice.” (Robin Sharma)

Not just true when working in a business. This is just another reminder to write as often as we can. Want to be a writer? Write + write + write.

5. “The bigger the dream, the more important the team.” (Robin Sharma)

I can’t emphasize enough how important it has been to me to get to know other writers. The support is invaluable – and also the advice on everything from ideas when someone is a beta-reader to you and to ideas other have on how to solve common writing problems. Reaching big dreams are mostly done in teams. The last books I read had acknowledgement sections that stretched over several pages. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

6. “Remember that a critic is a dreamer gone scared.” (Robin Sharma)

Those people criticising your dream? They’re probably dreamers gone scared, they are probably not living their own dreams. Perhaps next time you could deal with them asking a counter questions about what their dreams are (or used to be). I wonder what might happen?

7. “You are paid to be uncomfortable – and to pursue projects that scare you.” (Robin Sharma)

Check! It scares me to work on my PhD thesis synopsis (my work for today), and it would scare me even more to actually go out and do the research needed if it is accepted. I would love that so much, though.

Pursuing great stories and write them down is also scary. So is attempting to become a published author and so is self-publishing. Or even handing your story over to a beta-reader. Writing is bravery. Be brave, guys – keep following your dreams, even when it’s scary!

8. “Work hard. But build an exceptional family life. What’s the point of reaching the mountaintop but getting there alone.” (Robin Sharma)

Write, write, write. And spend some quality time regularly with loved ones. ❤

Thank you for reading! 😀

Enjoyed reading these encouragements? I would love it if you would share the post!

GOOD LUCK TODAY!

May creativity and bravery be with you.

  1. Bahaha! I love ‘you’re paid to be uncomfortable.’ ^.^ This is awesome! It kind of reminds me of my graduate school interview this past weekend where I had to stand up and present my (lack of) research for profs to get to know me. Not intimidating at all! But if I get accepted, they’ll pay me to stand up and present my research. So, it was worth it! (And thankfully, I’ve gotten over quite a bit of the stage fright that plagued me as a child. ^.^)

Lovely quotes all! ^.^ Thank you for inspiration!

  2. Thanks for your comment, Melanie!
Haha, yes, I love that one as well, you’re paid to be uncomfortable. Without a bit of fear or challenges we’re not developing and evolving, we’re standing still in a safe place.
What an awesome oportuinity you got there! Sending good thoughts out for your interview result, hope you’ll get accepted!
    Best, Agnete
