Melanie’s 11 Questions

1. What’s one guilty pleasure you have?

Sleeping all day. I love sleeping. The hardest part of my January Challenge turned out to be this: Get up at 7. It is a deep inner pleasure for me to sleep in. Especially when I do it on weekdays.

2. What childhood activity do you miss now that you’re an ‘adult’?

Run outside and tumble on the nearest meadow, not a thought in the world to how others would find it, just pure life joy. How liberating!

3. Do you speak any other languages besides English?

Well, Norwegian is my native tongue and German is the language of my everyday life. I’ve learned other languages as well, but I can by no means claim to speak them. I’ve taken language courses in Spanish, Icelandic, Finnish, Russian and Arabic.

4. Chocolate or gummy bears?

Chocolate! I think that gummy bears barely have any taste, totally overrated.

5. What Harry Potter house are you in? (This may determine the future of our friendship -.-)

I’m far better at theories than I am at doing practical stuff. And I’m a nerd, working on a PhD thesis synopsis. Now that I think of it, I think I would be a Ravenclaw.

6. What fandom(HP/GOT/Dr. Who/HG/etc) annoys you to no end?

50 shades of Grey.

7. What’s in your Dauntless fear landscape? (aka what are you afraid of?)

Fire. People I love dying. War. Failure. Success.

8. Name a song you’re totally obsessed with at the moment.

“The Story” by Brandi Carlile. In my head it is the theme music of the last chapters of A Heart of Fire.

9. Are you the center of attention or a wallflower?

Wallflower. Well, to be exact: The first three-four hours of a party I’m the wallflower, after that I might be the one dancing wildly. But not due to attention, just due to having finally relaxed and a love of dancing.

10. What’s your favorite part of blogging?

I love the community the most. The feeling that I’m writing something that someone will actually read – and being a part of discussions – and being able to actually encourage others – and be inspired by other people’s writing processes.

11. If given the opportunity to do something without any consequences, what would you do?

Sing a song on a stage in front of thousands of people. No consequences = no judgment, right? (I’m not really good at singing, I just think that it would be an awesome, liberating,  fear-demolishing experience.)

11 Random Facts

  1. I have a twin sister. Yes, she pretty much looks like me. Yes, she is also a writer.
  2. As a kid I played the trumpet, for a bit more than a decade.
  3. Currently I play the saxophone –  not very good, but I’m rehearsing doing things just for fun, and not because I’m good at it. (said the recovering perfectionism-addict, patting herself on the shoulder)
  4. I love sunrises. My favourite colours are all the colours of a sunrise.
  5. I’ve ridden an elephant through the jungles of northern Thailand.
  6. I love playing with children – I love how honestly they laugh, how excited they get, how happy they are over little things. I find it inspiring.
  7. I hate talking on the phone. I guess I come from a time and a place (tiny village) in which I never needed it when I grew up, we simply went outside and started playing with anyone we met. I’ve never really fully adjusted to the cell-phone-age.
  8. I’m really good at winning board games. I hold back and sometimes lose on purpose, so that people will still want to play with me.
  9. I think it would be really cool to be able to do a yoga headstand. I’m nowhere near achieving it, but who knows? Perhaps one day… 😀
  10. I love the idea of jogging, I just hate doing it.
  11. Twice a year I paint a picture.

This award has been around for a while, so sorry if you’ve been tagged for the second, third or forth time. 😀 I hope you play along, but feel free not to, if you’re not into these kinds of challenges. Would be really curious to read your answers, though. 😀 And I’m not commiting to the rule about 200-followers, as I honestly don’t know how many followers most blogs have (probably all of my nominees have more than 200), and since “Liebster” means favourite in German. I just tagged a few blogs that I really enjoy reading, that I think have perhaps not been tagged already. Have fun! 😀

  1. Haha! I have no issues getting up early. I’m the worst at sleeping in. :p I’m up at 7:30 at the latest on my off-days. ^.^

Wow! I love your childhood activity. It sounds like so much fun. ^.^

WHAT?! Gummy bears have no taste?! 0.0 They’re amazing!

Okay. Ravenclaws are cool. We’re still friends. :p

50 Shades of Grey has a fandom? That’s dumb.

Success is in your fear landscape? I’m quite interested to know more about this.

It would be very awesome to sing on a big stage in front of lots of people and not feel like people are judging you afterwards. ^.^ Very cool!

Ah! You have a twin?! That’s so cool! *.*

And Thailand sounds like lots of fun! I’m jealous of that adventure. ^.^

Haha! I love running. I like the way my body feels like it’s being pushed and it’s great when you reach your goal, but my problem is it’s really boring. I feel like I’m wasting time while running because I can’t multi-task. :/

  3. Thanks for reading, Melanie 😀

I wish I too would get up early easily… I even wish I would be able to get up at 5 in the morning! I keep thinking how much I could DO with all the time every morning… And then I roll over and sleep a little more, smiling 😀

Haha, I think one of the ideas with running is to clear the mind and not multi-task? I know the problem, though, sometimes I go swimming, but I can’t multitask while swimming either 😀 I can’t even read a book while doing it 😀

Well, yes, fear of success… I guess it’s fear for the big Uncertain, for how my life would change, and perhaps fear of being in the spotlight. People would notice me. Doesn’t that seem crazy scary? 😀 Laughing. I’m working on overcoming this fear, though. *Not letting the fear landscape hold me back*

You gotta think positive, right? Whenever we’re at the same time at the same place I’ll never eat any gummy bears, leaving my half to you, laughing.

  4. Huh. There’s no reply to comment button on here. No wonder I didn’t get a notification of this comment. :/

Oh man! Right?! I wish I could get up earlier because I feel like I’m constantly wasting all the others in the day sleeping. *sigh*

See, the thing is, I run at the gym. There’s constantly things going on around me and I’m not very good at ‘clearing my mind’. :p I’m really bad at it! Actually, when I do that, all I can think about is ‘oh my gosh! My lungs hurt!’ So, I like distracting myself when I run so I can run faster and longer. ^.^

Oh! Yeah, I totally get that. A few years ago, I really looked into getting involved in acting because I love it, but my mom asked me: ‘are you doing it for the fame or the money?’ The money. And because I love it, but I don’t know if I could handle the fame. I mean, people following you around, or stalking you, or constantly wanting photos/signatures. Yeah. It’d be a bit much. I’d probably hide in the mountains in a cottage. :p

Haha! True. True. You can have the chocolate and I’ll eat the gummy bears. ^.^ I like this idea. *is very bad at thinking optimistically*

  5. Yes, it’s the Reddle Theme – I’ve been searching for a way to add a “reply” button, but my programming skills aren’t developed enough to write it into the page codes.

Haha, that’s why I run outside I guess. At the gym I don’t just notice how my lungs hurt, but basically how my entire body hurts, laughing. Sometimes I bring a camrea when jogging outside, so that while jogging, I’ll look out for pretty scenerys. Just another way of cheating myself to run more…

Being a famous actor or pop star would scare me to my core, the stalking and the getting recognized everywhere. Writing is a much kinder profession in that way, I think. We act the scenes out in our heads and put them down on paper, and people see these characters the way they interpret them in their minds 😀 And you have to be insanely famous to be actually recognized on the street. A scary part about being a writer though: Instead of looking at your appearance, the readers look into a part of your soul…. Waaaaah!!! 😀
